Chiropody, or Podiatry as it is now known, is the treatment of conditions affecting the foot and lower limb, the cause may be linked to abnormal foot function, infection,  underlying medical conditions such as arthritis or diabetes or trauma from ill fitting shoes.

There are many conditions which podiatrists deal with routinely, e.g. callous, corns, ingrown toe nails, thickened toe nails and verrucae.

This practice also carries out nail surgery and electro surgery (permanent removal of long standing corns or verrucae) where appropriate. Patients often present with a variety of symptoms which may be caused by abnormal foot function, including arch pain, heel pain, ankle pain, shin pain, knee pain, hip pain and low back pain. This area of practice is known as clinical biomechanics and may involve the use of in shoe devices known as foot orthotics.

The McKerrow Practice specialises in the supply of casted functional orthotics as well as a variety of off the shelf devices and has over twenty years of clinical experience in this field.

Many recurring sports injuries may be attributed to abnormal foot function. This practice specialises in the treatment of sports injuries; Mr McKerrow is one of the few podiatrists in the U.K. to have a Masters Degree in this subject and is consultant Podiatrist to the Highland Institute of Sport and the RAF in Highland.
