Corns are concentrated areas of callous, there are different types of corns;

  • Hard Corns
    These tend to form over bony prominences which are under excessive pressure. Usual sites for this type of corn are: The metetarsals 1-5 The outside of the little toe The tops of the toes The tip of the toes
  • Soft Corns
    These usually appear in between the toes. They are often surrounded by white macerated tissue.
  • Seed Corns
    These corns are small and often associated with dry skin.
Treatment for all types of corns include reduction with a scalpel, chemical treatments, padding ,digital orthoses ,insoles or orthotics. In some cases Electro surgery may be appropriate depending on the type of corn, the location etc.
